RICK (SAX) METZ
HOMEPAGE

Rick is first and foremost a Saxophonist, but, you’ll usually find him playing a wide variety of instruments on stage. Born in Brooklyn, NY and schooled in Albuquerque, NM, Rick is the “Road Warrior” of any group, having worked in almost every state in the Union and all of western Canada. His extensive performance/recording credits include Garratt Wilkin & The Parrotheads, Sha Na Na, Chubby Checker, Otis Day & The Knights, Barney Kessel, Ben E. King, Tim Barnes (“Stoneground”), Steel Breeze, Harvey Mandel, Jimmy Smith, (Leon "Pops" Hughes') Coasters and Little Anthony & The Imperials, while his many top-notch bands over the years have worked with numerous entertainment notables including Johnny Cash, Tower Of Power, Taj Mahal, Eddie Money, David LaFlamme (“It’s A Beautiful Day”), Bob Marley’s Wailers, David Allen Coe and Bad Co. He’s also one the few woodwind players in the business to utilize the unique Wind Synthesizer to it’s full extent, which adds many rich textures to any group’s sound!

Acknowledged as one of the premier Jimmy Buffett tributes in the nation, this is an amazing group of musicians from the Placerville/Sacramento, CA area that I've been performing with over the last few years.....!
It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere!!!
Here's a related link to a transcript of a radio interview with Mick Martin (in which I get a mention).....It reviews "Blues All Night", one of the great CD's in the "BluesRockers" catalog.....
Besides being a personal friend and my living idol, Louis Prima's legendary sideman is renowned as one of the most impeccable players of the Tenor Sax of this or any other musical era. With his distinctive sax playing and his powerful vocals, he's thrilled millions via performances from Las Vegas major showrooms to the Copacabana in New York City. One of the biggest highlights of my career was to sit-in with him many times at the legendary Sands Casino Show Lounge in Las Vegas!
I had the pleasure of recording a CD ("Rock & Roll Dance Party") with these guys a few years ago (before Chico passed).
They're still Rockin'.....check it out!
This is a great group to record & perform with...I’m on a bunch of their CD’s! The lead singer/harp player (Mick Martin) performed at Carnegie Hall with (B3 organ legend) Jimmy Smith!
Here’s a link for one of the true musical genius’ of the 20th century!

Here’s a guitar player that’s finally getting some of the recognition he deserves. I’ve had the pleasure of performing with him (& his awesome band) when he rolls through this area. He’s one of the new generation of blues players with a distinctive style that stands out from the rest!
